Ricoh has just announced a smaller and cheaper version of
the Theta S. the company’s handheld 360-degree camera. The new camera
is called the Theta SC, aimed at everyone.
The Theta SC uses twin f2.0 lenses and two 12MP sensors to capture 360-degree shots and 1080p quality spherical videos at FHD. Though each video is limited to shoot up to 5 minutes to preserve the camera's 8GB internal memory. If it’s anything like the Theta S, the Theta SC will be
easy to use.
It’s nice that this new camera costs less and is a bit
smaller than the Theta S, Samsung, Nikon, Kodak and dozens of startups that offered cameras. The Theta SC likely wont push any of the boundaries of
this new type of photography.
Theta SC costs $299 and it's on sale today at Ricoh's website and other
traditional camera retailers,, whereas Theta S was previously sold for $350.
