YouTube Introduces Super Chat Feature For Its Usets To Make Money

YouTube has announced a new feature to help YouTube creators get money when they go live, called Super Chat. This feature allows viewers to pay using the comment section when on the creator live stream.

It is reported that soon all the YouTube users will see a $ icon in the chat window on app and web chat interface, when someone goes live. Clicking this $ icon will allow you to enter the amount that you’d like to gift the YouTube creator. The highest amount creditor will see the comment gets pinned on the top also will get a chance to write a message.

YouTube’s product manager Barbara Macdonald said,

Creators can look at their messages and prioritize their biggest fans during a stream.

Super Chat is similar to what Twitch currently offers with Cheering, a way for fans to tip live streamers with chat emotes. YouTube says the tool is designed for viewers aged 18 or more. This feature has been launched globally in beta for selected users and will roll out more broadly on January 31st to all users.
