YouTube has detected several issues affecting the community and advertising partners from the past few years and no in the current year 2018. YouTube has created some new rules and policies for content creators to start making money out of their real content.

From Today (Tuesday 16th January 2018), YouTube announced three significant changes:

1. Stricter Criteria

Till last year, channels had to reach 10K total views to be eligible for the YouTube Partner Program or to enable Monetization. Whereas now new channels will need to have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time within the past 12 months to be eligible for ads.

YouTube is going to enforce these new requirements for existing channels beginning from February 20th, 2018. Of course, YouTube will also monitor things like community strikes, spam, and other abuse flags to ensure they comply with the policies.

YouTube warns that if any channel gets under strict criteria and found repeatedly or violates guidelines then the channel will not be eligible for Monetization permanently.
