Google Unveils Pixel And Pixel XL Smartphone In San Francisco

Google has unveiled the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL smartphones at a launch event in San Francisco, on Tuesday. The company has introduced its first branded smartphones to the world.
Google has kept the launch event secret for no reason, and almost everything was spotted online in advance of the event. The Google Pixel sports a 5-inch FHD Amoled display and the Google Pixel XL sports a 5.5-inch QHD Amoled display and both wear a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection. Both the models will be available with almost identical innards except the screen size and battery size.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones feature an aluminum unibody and a polished glass combination at the back. Coming to specs both phones will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with two cores (2.15GHz and 1.6GHz), 4GB of RAM, Android 7.1 Nougat OS, Pixel imprint fingerprint sensor, 12.3MP rear camera with a Sony IMX378 sensor, and an 8MP front camera with a Sony IMX179 sensor. The Pixel phone comes with a 2700mAH and Pixel XL with a 3450 mAH (includes fast charging capacity). The connectivity options include 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones will be available exclusively via Verizon and unlocked version from Google store. The smartphone will be available for pre-orders in both black and white color shading starting from Tuesday (October 4) in Australia, Canada, Germany, UK, and the US.
The Google Pixel costs $649 (around Rs. 43,000) for 32GB variant in the US, and $749 (around Rs. 50,000) for 128GB variant. And, Google Pixel XL costs $769 (around Rs. 51,000) for 32GB, $869 (around Rs. 58,000) for 128GB. Pre-orders were started from October 4 in the US and from October 5 in there's no word yet on price of 128GB storage variant in India, or that of the Pixel XL.
The company is going to launch Google Pixel phone in India at a price starting Rs. 57,000, and the pre-order date for is October 13, 2016. The phone will be made available via Flipkart, Reliance Digital, Croma, and as well as other retailers.
